DENNY DAYVISS the Singer
Denny Dayviss,Soprano, was born in South Africa of British parents and started singing at the age of four.
She received her early tuition from her grandmother and at the age of fifteen Denny could sing most of the lyric operatic repertoire..Mimi, Madame Butterfly,Susanna and Countess in the Marriage of Figaro....
Denny came to London and gained admission to the Royal Academy of Music.She studied with Roy Henderson and later became a pupil of Dame Maggie Teyte who taught her the role of Melisande and the art of French song. She became interested also in Operetta,Musicals and Pantomine touring frequently in British Theaters,also singing Recitals with Pianist Nina Walker, in London,Sweden,Greece, Germany, Italy and guesting in Operatic Reperoire in the U.S.A. Spain and England.
In 1968 she set aside her own singing career to become an impresario,presenting in London more than twenty five concert performances of generally neglected Operas ,all featuring the most celebrated international singers.

After a broken jaw accident in 1975,Denny Dayviss returned to her singing ,as therapy,with Brian Stanborough. Within a month she was singing Concerts and recitals with him and their collaboration would last throughout the years. 1978/79 Concerts in France. Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux, Grand Théâtre de Reims, Centre Culturel Nancy, Salle Gaveau Paris.

On aurait certainement plus vite dit ce que n’a pas fait DENNY DAYVISS dans le monde musical que d’exposer les multiples facettes de cette anglaise née en Afrique du Sud.
Disons tout de même qu’après des études musicales à la Royal Academy de Londres, on l’a entendue dans un répertoire regroupant les grands titres d’Operas - Tels que « Mme BUTTERFLY » « LA VIE DE BOHEME » « FAUST », etc..,
Mais l’opera ne devait titre qu’une etape pour la remuante DENNY. L’opérette devait faire sa conquête, comme elle devait conquérir ceux qui l’ont entendue dans « La Veuve Joyeuse » ou « Le Pays du Sourire ».
Son succès personnel la conduit alors tout naturellement a donner des concerts au cours de tournées faites de succès.
D’Athènes a Stockholm en passant par Berlin, elle a amassé suffisamment de lauriers pour se dire que chanter était bien, mais que faire chanter ceux qui avait du talent, mais pas de public pourrait l’être aussi bien.
C’est ainsi que commence pour elle une carrière d’impressario.
Joan Sutherland, Martina Arroyo, Montserrat Caballé, Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo, pour ne citer que ceux-ci font aujourd’hui partie de son « écurie », ou les plus grandes voix sont venues la rejoindre.
Mais bien sûr etre une découvreuse de talents, être le manager de noms glorieux, ne pouvait la laisser a l’abri de la tentation d’un retour sur les planches. Si bien que sans délaisser ses activités d’impressario, elle a décide de reprendre ses tournées en Grande Bretagne, France et en Epagne.
